I Wrote a Book
I co-wrote a first-part catalogue raisonne for the kinetic sculptor Pedro S. de Movellan. It includes every sculpture de Movellán made throughout his career from his university studies up until the book was written (2012), as well as text on his various styles, techniques, and influences, offering insights on his use of size, shape, material, color, and range of motion. Also included are detailed conceptual sketches and schematics for selected works as well as ephemera marking milestones in his career. It's a real page-turner and doubles as a paperweight or sleep-aid.
I get several cents of each sale.
Sam Messenger - 13 Cycles
This catalogue essay was for acclaimed British artist Sam Messenger's exhibition titled 13 Cycles. The essay discusses the work in the show itself, but places Messenger's oeuvre in a larger context within contemporary art. The cover is very blue though I promise the prose is not.
Sam Messenger - Early Drawings
Another Sam Messenger essay, this time highlighting Messenger's earliest drawings as an artist, and how they informed his most well-known work. From the outside, it looks like the other catalogues, but white. That's the point.
Sam Messenger - Horizon
One of three catalog essays I wrote for Messenger. This exhibition was actually part of the Art Dealers' Association of America Art Show.
One of the works from this exhibition is now in the permanent collection of the British Museum. In case it's not clear, that's a big deal.
